B. S. Sponge Limited, incorporated in June 2000, is a steel manufacturer engaged in producing semi-finished and value-added finished steel products. Its product portfolio includes sponge iron, billets, slabs, TMT bars, hot-rolled (HR) coils, wire rods, ERW pipes and tubes, and ferro alloys, primarily silico manganese. The company operates an integrated manufacturing chain, converting iron ore into sponge iron and further processing it into semi-finished and finished steel products. It began manufacturing operations in 2005 with an installed sponge iron capacity of 30,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) and has expanded through capacity additions and forward integration. As of March 31, 2026, its installed sponge iron capacity stood at 675,000 TPA, while its combined installed capacity for semi-finished and finished steel products was 1,627,500 TPA. All manufacturing operations are conducted at its approximately 47.19-hectare facility in Taraimal, Raigarh, Chhattisgarh. The plant comprises six 100 TPD and six 250 TPD sponge iron rotary kilns and is supported by a 67 MW captive power plant, helping improve power supply control and manage energy costs. Its integrated operations and location in a mineral-rich region provide advantages in raw material sourcing, logistics and manufacturing. The company serves customers across steel manufacturing, construction, infrastructure, residential and commercial development, agriculture, industrial engineering and downstream steel processing. Its products are used for captive consumption and sold in the open market through direct institutional sales and a network of traders, distributors and dealers. As of March 31, 2026, the company employed 2,020 permanent employees and 407 contractual workers, primarily across its steel and power plant operations.

- Diversified Steel Product Portfolio: The company manufactures sponge iron, billets, TMT bars, HR coils, wire rods, ERW pipes and ferro alloys, serving different segments of the steel industry.
- Integrated Manufacturing Facility: Its integrated plant in Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, supported by a 67 MW captive power plant, helps manage production and energy requirements.
- Strong Revenue Growth: Revenue increased from approximately ₹1,494 crore in FY2024 to ₹2,593 crore in FY2026, reflecting significant business expansion.
- Raw Material Price Volatility: Raw materials account for a substantial share of operating costs, and rising input prices may reduce profit margins if higher costs cannot be passed on to customers.
- Dependence on One Manufacturing Location: All manufacturing operations are concentrated at one facility in Raigarh, making the business vulnerable to plant shutdowns, local disruptions and regulatory issues.
- Declining Profit Margins: Despite revenue growth, operating EBITDA margin declined from approximately 19.1% in FY2024 to 14.4% in FY2026, indicating pressure on profitability.
