Utkarsh Coreinvest Ltd (earlier known as Utkarsh Micro Finance Ltd) is the promoter and holding company of Utkarsh Small Finance Bank. The company started its journey in September 2009 with the aim of providing financial and non-financial services to unbanked and underserved people who have skills but lack access to capital. Later, the microfinance business was converted into a bank after receiving a small finance bank license from the Reserve Bank of India in November 2016, and Utkarsh Small Finance Bank began operations in January 2017. After transferring its microfinance business to the bank, the company was converted into a Core Investment Company as per RBI guidelines and currently holds about 99.99% stake in Utkarsh Small Finance Bank.
